Europe is huge and there is a ton of things to do and see and over
time we will add to this page. "Seeing Europe" would take
several years. You might wish to start with the major capitals such as
Paris, London, Rome and then countries like Switzerland, Germany,
Austria, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Sweden, and Turkey to get you
warmed up so to speak. If you enjoy beer and miss either the UK or
Germany that would be a real shame. I enjoyed going to the Haufbrau
House in Munich many years ago and as I recall it was a three level
monster that could seat up to 5000+ people. Those huge litre glasses of
beer and the singing and noise was really something to see. I have not
researched that one lately so hope it is still going strong. Attached is
their website link below. Oktoberfest in Germany is a real good
time. A local pub in the UK is wonderful and you wonder why we haven't
been able to duplicate them over here yet.
Depending
on your interests you could be interested in other things than beer. Art
for example and here you absolutely must see the Louvre in Paris.
As a matter of fact even their website is amazing. I was there and have
some advice. It is very possible to get completely overwhelmed. Your
brain simply cannot take all of it in at once and I have a large head!
So pace yourself. Several of the paintings are very large and just
viewing one of them in reasonable detail to appreciate it could take
several minutes. The Mona Lisa on the other hand is surprisingly compact
and yes her smile is really something to see. I found at one point
in Italy that I was seeing so many gorgeous stained glass windows that I
felt like I had seen more than enough. Now of course I would like to go
back and look at some more.
People
have all different interests and each of you will have your own
priorities for Europe. It could be the food, the people, the art, the
history, the wine whatever -it's there. If you have time try to bone up
on your language skills too. I felt even stupider than normal when we
came across a bunch of young Dutch kids who could speak English better
than I could plus half a dozen other languages. Now with computer
assisted learning all it takes is a few hours of investment in study and
you may be able to do some basic communication anyway which is much
better than nothing.
